COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) released the following statement today providing his Ohio House of Representatives committee assignments for the 135th General Assembly:

“It is time to get to work on behalf of all Ohioans. I am honored and excited to serve on five consequential committee assignments to help solve the challenges and struggles Ohioans are facing. I will continue to fight for K-12 education opportunities for all students, ensure equitable access and oversight in banking and investing, and stand up for college affordability and post-high school graduation pathways. I am committed to making certain our state budget is for helping disadvantaged, working-class, and middle-class Ohioans,” said Rep. Robinson. “I will continue to balance bipartisanship with my own convictions in tackling our state operating budget and the policy issues and questions my colleagues and I will face in our committees.”

Rep. Robinson will serve on the following House committees:

  • Primary & Secondary Education Committee, Ranking Member
    • Typical meeting day and time: Tuesdays at 4:00 PM
    • Typical meeting location: Statehouse Room 116
  •  Finance Committee
    • Typical meeting days and times: Tuesdays at 10:30 AM and Wednesdays at 9:00 AM
    • Typical meeting location: Statehouse Room 313

    • Typical meeting location: Statehouse Room 018
  • Higher Education Committee
    • Typical meeting day and time: Wednesdays at 10:30 AM
    • Typical meeting location: Statehouse Room 017

The Finance committee began to hold meetings on February 7th to hold hearings on the state transportation and state operating budgets.

Additionally, Rep. Robinson was appointed as the Ranking Member of the House Primary and Secondary Education committee. Rep. Robinson is serving in this position for the third consecutive term.

“As the Ranking Member for the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee, I look forward to working with Chair Bird, Vice-Chair Fowler-Arthur, and all committee members to address teacher and school staffing retention and shortages, improving early education, over-testing, and how our Ohio education is governed itself,” added Rep. Robinson. “My top priority is to ensure that we keep our promise to Ohio families and fully fund the next phase of the Fair School Funding Plan for K-12 schools and make the formula permanently part of law. Without fair school funding, it will be difficult to resolve most other K-12 education problems.”

Committees are open to the public and take place in the Ohio Statehouse, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, OH 43215.
