Rep. Dovilla Supports Effort to Bring U.S. Space Force Academy to Ohio

State Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) recently signed a letter addressed to Governor DeWine, expressing strong support for Ohio to be named the future home of the U.S. Space Force Academy. 

“With its rich heritage of innovation and as America’s cradle of innovation, particularly in aerospace and defense, Ohio is ideally positioned to serve as the future home of the U.S. Space Force Academy,” said Rep. Dovilla. “As commanding officer of a Navy Reserve unit that drills at a joint intelligence facility on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, I know from firsthand and longstanding experience the important role the Dayton area plays in convening military, government, higher education, and industry partners to advance our national security. I am pleased to join my federal and state colleagues in enthusiastically endorsing the effort to locate this newest addition to the Nation’s distinguished service academies here in the Buckeye State.” 

The letter, signed by Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and members of the House Republican Caucus, highlights Ohio’s rich history of aerospace pioneers such as Neil Armstrong and John Glenn, as well as the state’s longstanding leadership in innovation, robust network of military installations, and defense industry partnerships. 

This letter follows an announcement from Senator Bernie Moreno earlier this week, calling on Ohio officials to join him in bringing the U.S. Space Force Academy to Dayton, Ohio – the birthplace of aviation. You can read the full release here.
