State Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) voted in support of Ohio’s Capital Budget bill, a two-year capital improvements budget for state and community projects throughout Ohio totaling nearly $4 billion.

The bill provides appropriations for state infrastructure needs, including renovations to state offices, new construction for mental health facilities, land acquisition, and equipment. The plan also includes just over $200 million for community projects, which are projects that come from outside of state agencies and have a benefit or nexus to the state.

All 88 counties will receive funding for community projects.

Rep. Dovilla helped secure investments for the following community projects in the 17th District:

Berea
•$750,000 — Baldwin Wallace University Campus and Community Access Initiative
• $750,000 — Berea Recreation Center Expansion
• $12,500 — Roehm Field Reclamation Project

North Royalton
• $700,000 — North Royalton Memorial Park Pavilion

Olmsted Township
• $100,000 — Olmsted Township Greenway Trail

Strongsville
• $150,000 — Strongsville Community Dog Park

“Cuyahoga County has many worthy projects, and I made it a priority to ensure our community received serious consideration in this capital budget,” said Dovilla. “The $24.7 million I helped secure for Cuyahoga County will support parks, trails, cultural institutions, community centers, health care access, public safety, workforce development, and other local priorities that residents will see and use for years to come. We were able to support these projects using existing state resources, reducing the need for additional debt while delivering important local investments. I am proud to help deliver these investments and secure meaningful results for communities across the county.”

Through this bill, Ohio House Republicans prioritized investing in Ohio’s future by expanding access to education and healthcare through new facilities or upgrades to existing ones, improving parks and roadways to better connect communities, and strengthening local facilities across the state by providing necessary funding for enhancements.

This bill now heads to the Governor for consideration.
