COLUMBUS – State Rep. Meredith R. Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) today celebrated the unanimous bipartisan passage of House Bill (HB) 247, Avery’s Law, off the House floor.
“I am elated to announce the passage of Avery’s Law. This bill will provide much needed and comprehensive revision of our dog laws, hold dog owners accountable, and protect victims of dog attacks. Above all else, it will enshrine the legacy, courage, and advocacy of Avery Russell in our revised code,” said Rep. Lawson-Rowe.
Avery Russell was severely injured in a dog attack in Reynoldsburg, Ohio in June 2024, when she was 11 years old.
HB 247 now heads to the Senate for committee assignment.
