COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today joined the Ohio House Democratic Caucus in sending a letter to Governor Mike DeWine and Attorney General Dave Yost urging them to not appeal Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Holbrook’s ruling that the governor violated a statue in 2021 when he refused to accept $900M in federal unemployment during the pandemic. The ruling, if not appealed by the attorney general and if the funds are distributed by the governor, means 300K Ohio families will be eligible for meaningful financial support.

The 136th General Assembly marks the first time in history women will make up half of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. The Ohio Commission on Infant Mortality (ORC 3701.68) was created in 2014 with the goal of improving Ohio's infant mortality rate. Commission members are pulled together from the state legislature, directors, and designees from various executive agencies, and representatives from Ohio’s healthcare sector and community-based programs. The commission is charged with advising the governor on how to best allocate state funding and services to addressing infant mortality, which is defined as the death of a live-born baby before his or her first birthday.
