COLUMBUS — State Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D–Columbus) is standing alongside fellow Central Ohio leaders in response to reports of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the Columbus area this week.

“We know that many families across Central Ohio are feeling anxious and afraid,” said Rep. Humphrey. “I want our immigrant neighbors to know that you are seen, you are valued, and you belong in this community. Local leaders have been clear: city resources and local law enforcement will not be used to enforce federal immigration actions, and no one will be questioned or investigated solely because of their immigration status.”

Rep. Humphrey reiterated guidance shared by city officials urging residents to remain calm, informed, and cautious, particularly when interacting with federal agents.

“No one should feel pressured to sign documents they do not understand or to open their home without a valid judicial warrant,” continued Rep. Humphrey. “Knowing your rights is one of the most important ways to protect yourself and your family.”

Rep. Humphrey recommitted her support to the immigrant community.

“I will continue to stand with our city leaders and our residents to ensure that fear does not dictate our policies or our values,” concluded Rep. Humphrey. “Columbus is stronger when we protect one another.”
