COLUMBUS - State Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D-Columbus) today announced that the Controlling Board has approved a $6.6 million increase for the implementation of the NextGen Project which will modernize administration of the personal income tax and school district income tax.

During last week's Controlling Board, State Representative Humphrey's district, Ohio House District 2, received $250,000 in capital funds from the Department of Development for Whitehall's assessment and cleanup.

“I am pleased that we are taking the necessary steps to modernize the tax system in Ohio,” said Rep. Humphrey. “Additionally, I am thrilled that the Controlling Board appropriated about $250,000 specifically for Whitehall to improve the cleanliness of our neighborhoods. This will essentially attract more people and revenue to the area.”

The Controlling Board also approved $146,680 in ARPA funds for expanding trail projects across Ohio. The funds will support continued trail designs, permitting, and construction administration services.

Other approved Controlling Board items include:

  • $65M in FY 24 to support housing assistance programs throughout Ohio.
  • $28M in FY 24 for the Home Weatherization Assistance Program to target installing specific measures in households at or below federal poverty guidelines.
  • $5.9M across the biennium to continue opioid treatment programs and medication unit services at five correctional institutions across the state.
  • $100K in TANF funds to provide training and technical assistance for the workforce development program.
