Rep. Humphrey Condemns Recent Act of Gun Violence Involving Beloved Community Leader
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Latyna Humphrey (D-Columbus) today mourned the tragic loss of community leader and business owner, Jehad Alzaben. Jehad, a 47-year-old Ohioan, was tragically shot and killed in his convenience store on May 25th near midnight.
“Jehad is not just another statistic in the ongoing plague of senseless gun violence in our community. He was a pillar of the neighborhood—known for helping those in need and for simply being a genuinely caring person. I send my deepest prayers to his family, and I hope to see those responsible for this heinous act of violence brought to justice,” said Rep. Humphrey. “The rise of gun violence must be tempered. You can no longer deny its haunting presence in our communities. This is not a partisan issue as it has been said time and time again; stronger gun laws can be the deciding factor in life and death situations. I am tired of seeing another life lost in my community due to senseless gun violence, enough is enough.”
Jehad was a local business owner and a dedicated and trusted community partner. He actively participated in meetings at the Rickenbacker Woods Community Foundation and worked closely with organizations like Livingston Avenue Merchants Association to help clean up and revitalize the Livingston Avenue corridor.
