State Representative Kevin Ritter today announced that Governor DeWine recently awarded $146,222 to Meigs County Public Transit for several equipment updates and vehicle projects.

“In our beautifully rural and hilly part of the state, distance and geography can create barriers to fully engaging in the local community,” said Rep. Ritter. “I am glad to see this funding awarded to the Meigs County Public Transit for improvements in coordinating and facilitating their transportation services.”

The specific details for the Meigs County Public Transit award are as follows:

  • Scheduling App Technology – This app will allow Ohioans to request transportation to help get them to work, work trainings or employment trips, improving access for job seekers, students, and employers across Meigs County.
  • Media Console Equipment – This new equipment will notify riders of job postings and training opportunities during their local commute, helping connect them with employers and workforce partners in the area.
  • Replacement Vehicles – Meigs county will replace their current transportation vehicles with newer models to help expand capacity and create reliable transportation for Ohioans to get to work.

In House Bill 54 – Ohio’s State Transportation Budget – the General Assembly appropriated $15 million per fiscal year for the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program, which supports public workforce transportation in rural and urban areas of Ohio.  The program provides funding for infrastructure, equipment, technology, vehicles, and planning projects.
