Juanita O. Brent News

COLUMBUS– State Representative Juanita O. Brent made a statement today ahead of the 50th anniversary of Roe V. Wade and its federal overturning.

“Overruling Roe openly threatens the lives of those able to give birth. Increasing the barriers to access proper healthcare only increases the maternal death rate and the number of children forced into foster care,” said Rep. Brent. “Abortion rights should not be a matter of debate, it is a matter of protecting human rights. Abortions will not stop, lawmakers trying to make the United States an anti-choice nation do so at the expense of the people who have to suffer in the reality of such a country.”

Sunday, January 22nd marks the 50th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade. The historic Supreme Court case of 1973 and the court’s decision to protect reproductive rights have been under attack for decades now. On June 24th, 2022 the U.S. Supreme Court overturned federally recognized reproductive protections, endangering the lives of those who give birth. We must support and celebrate the effort that Roe V. Wade bastions.
