State Representative Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) released the subsequent statement following the House’s passage of House Bill 95, which allows income tax credits for beginning farmers and related business.
“This is a victory that increases the opportunity for more people to enter into a market in dire need of growth,” said Rep. Brent. “However, the bill is not perfect. HB 95 fails to provide the necessary language to make this policy equitable, as farmers with less than five acres are excluded. This will harm our smaller, urban farmers, who now more than ever are in need of support.”
House Bill 95 passed out of the Ohio House today, June 29th, 2021, with a vote of 95-1.
