State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) issued a statement today on the 9th anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. On December 14, 2012, a gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut and killed 20 children and 6 teachers.
“In the years since this tragedy, Congress has not passed any commonsense gun safety legislation to keep Americans safe,” said Rep. Brent. “Here in the Ohio General Assembly, Democrats have introduced bills to prevent tragedies like this in the future, but most do not even receive a committee hearing. We must do more to ensure that Ohioans can live, work, and learn in safety and security.”
