COLUMBUS— Today, Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) applauded the House passage of Senate Bill (SB) 108 and SB 109. SB 108 would provide $125 million in grants to bars, restaurants and lodging businesses impacted by COVID-19, while SB 109 would provide $556.9 million in grants to businesses, child care providers, assistance programs, local fairs, and veterans homes which have been impacted by COVID-19. The funding for these bills comes from federal CARES Act funding.

“SB 108 and SB 109 help us keep our Ohio Promise to our constituents that if you work hard, you can get ahead. Many businesses have been negatively impacted by this pandemic. It is crucial that we provide funding to these businesses to lessen that impact. This is a crucial piece of legislation, and I’m proud to have voted for these bills,” said Rep. Brent. “However, these bills are long overdue resources to keep Ohio businesses operational. This will help the businesses affected the most during this pandemic, but sadly for some, this money comes too, little too late.”

SB 108 and SB 109 now move back to the Senate for a concurrence vote.
