COLUMBUS—State Representative Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) announced that the 2021 Energy Assistance Expo for residents of Cuyahoga County will take place this Saturday, Jan. 16 from 9 am to 1:30 PM by appointment only. The event is hosted in collaboration with Reps. Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland), Stephanie Howse (D-Cleveland), Janine Boyd (D-Cleveland Heights), and Sen. Sandra Williams. This event is intended to help people in Cuyahoga County who need support in paying their energy bills or applying to the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) or Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) programs.
“I’m so excited to announce the 13th Annual Energy Assistance Expo,” said Brent. “This annual event is a great opportunity for residents of Cuyahoga County to get assistance with their HEAP or PIPP applications. Now more than ever during the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important that we are providing Ohioans with opportunities to pay their bills so they can live safely and securely in their homes.”
In advance of this event, Reps. Brent, Upchurch, Howse, Boyd and Sen. Williams sent a letter to Gov. DeWine urging him to extend the HEAP and PIPP programs through the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, people already on these programs would not have to re-apply and could continue receiving assistance. Continuing these programs is important in preserving the public health and wellbeing of Ohioans around the state.
