Championing Equality: Rep. Brent Supports the C.R.O.W.N. Act for All Ohioans
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today released a statement following the second hearing of House Bill 415, the C.R.O.W.N. Act, in the House Education Committee and the Cuyahoga County Council’s passage of its own C.R.O.W.N. Act.
“I’m proud that House Bill 415 continues to gain momentum—receiving its second hearing with 11 powerful proponent testimonies. Each voice shared reinforces why we must protect Ohioans from hair-based discrimination. I’m especially encouraged that Cuyahoga County Council has already passed its own C.R.O.W.N. Act, showing that our local leaders are ready to stand with us in this fight for fairness and respect,” said Rep. Brent. “Together, we’re saying loud and clear: your natural hair should never limit your opportunities in school, the workplace, or anywhere else in our state.”
The bill awaits a third hearing in the House Education Committee. You can view the committee here.
