Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today voted “NO” on the Republican state operating budget, House Bill (HB) 96, because it arbitrarily and recklessly slashes critical state funding areas while failing to benefit everyday Ohioans. Rather than provide real and meaningful support to Ohio’s citizens, House Republicans chose to dismantle the constitutional and bipartisan fair school funding formula, dump more taxpayer money into vouchers for charter non-public and private schools that benefit the wealthiest Ohioans, and authorize a $600M handout to billionaires to build a new Browns stadium outside of Cleveland amidst opposition by local leaders.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today celebrated the newest addition to the “Trails & Tales” program being produced by America 250-Ohio, the Ohio Creativity Trail. Lorain Public Library’s very own Toni Morrison Room is one such stop on the trail, offering a cozy reading room in the library that had nurtured the author’s love of literature. COLUMBUS - State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) - spoke today with Director Brian Baldridge of the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) regarding the spread of avian flu and its impact on the poultry industry. Ohio, on average, is the second largest producer of eggs in the nation, producing 10 billion eggs annually which contributes $3.3 billion to the state economy. To date, roughly 9 million birds have been culled in Ohio since the first noted cases in 2022, with another 8 million having been culled since December 2024.

Read Full StoryWhile Ohioans were sleeping, House Democratic lawmakers were offering two amendments on the House floor late Thursday and early Friday that would have prohibited the sale, display, possession or distribution of Confederate memorabilia at county and independent fairs, following a similar rule instituted by the Ohio State Fair in 2015. The motions came during floor debate on House Bill 665, which made several other changes to laws on local and county fairs. The U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy and NASCAR recently announced similar bans on Confederate memorabilia. Republicans rejected the amendments largely along party lines, voting instead to protect the sale of the Confederate flag.
