COLUMBUS– State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) announced today that the Legislative Service Commission (LSC) is accepting applicants for its 13- month Legislative and Media Production Fellowship Program. The Commission will hire a total of 24 fellows who will have the opportunity to work with members of the Ohio General Assembly, the Ohio Government Telecommunications or the Legislative Service Commission during 2023

“The LSC Fellowship Program is a perfect opportunity for a public-service minded individuals to get an introduction to state government and the inner-workings of how Ohio operates,” said Rep. Miller. “The program has an extensive network of alumni that have gone on to do a plethora of different things, from law school to lobbying and non-profit management, as well as being elected to public office.”

One of the primary responsibilities of fellows who are assigned to the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate is to assist legislators with constituent work. Constituent work requires fellows to assist the residents of a member’s district when they have a problem or concern that involves a state issue or state program. In addition to constituent work, fellows’ duties usually include writing assignments such as press releases, newsletters, speeches, and committee memorandums. Fellows also assist with various office and administrative duties. Media Production fellows assist in broadcasting House and Senate proceedings and in preparing educational video productions about the General Assembly and the legislative process.

Fellows receive full state of Ohio employee benefits and are paid $35,000 per year, with the opportunity to earn a $2,000 bonus based on length of service in the program.

Applicants must submit all required documents and materials by the April 1, 2022 deadline and have completed at least a bachelor’s degree program by December 2022. For more information or for an application and instructions, please visit: www.lsc.ohio.gov/fellowship
