State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today introduced legislation recognizing the Honor and Remember Flag in Ohio. The bipartisan bill, co-sponsored by Rep. Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville), would call for the flag to be flown at the Ohio Statehouse for Memorial Day, and give public buildings around the state permission to fly the flag at their discretion.

“The Honor and Remember Flag commemorates the sacrifice made by America’s fallen soldiers and their families,” said Rep. Miller. “It encompasses all conflicts going back to the American Revolution, and includes those who died in the line of duty, as well as those who lost their lives in connection with their service. This is about giving families another way to honor their loved one, and allowing members of the public to show their support.”

Ohio would be the 27th state across the country to recognize the Honor and Remember Flag. The bill will now be sent to the Ohio House Rules and Reference Committee, where it will receive a bill number and committee assignment.
