Joseph A. Miller, III News

COLUMBUS – State Representative Joe Miller (D-Amherst) announced the passage of the capital budget, HB 687, by the Ohio House of Representatives yesterday. The capital budget appropriates resources to state owned infrastructure, colleges, universities, and school districts as well as other community projects. The capital budget is typically passed every 2 years with this year’s budget appropriating over $3.5 billion to counties across Ohio with $191 million being allocated to community projects.

“I am pleased to see that community projects in the 56th will be funded with capital appropriations from the state,” said Rep. Miller. “Seeing these dollars in action to aid Ohioans battling addiction, renovating buildings for public use, and to further honor our veterans in Lorain County is important to me and a reason why I am here in Columbus. I applaud the state on the release of these funds. ”

Rep. Miller helped to secure $1.75m in funding for a number of community projects, including:

$ 900,000 for Lorain Nord Center’s Lorain County Crisis Receiving Center
$500,000 for Neighborhood Alliance’s Building Renovation
$350,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio’s South Lorain Education and Wellness Center

Rep. Miller advocated for $2.7m in funding for a number of projects of countywide significance, including:

$500,000 for North Ridgeville Miss Creek
$400,000 for Avon Traxler Preserve
$350,000 for Elyria Intergenerational Community Care

$100,000 for Sheffield Village James Day Park
$200,000 for Lorain Palace Theatre
$150,000 for Grafton Veterans Memorial
$125,000 for Beach Park Railway
$100,000 for North Ridgeville Veterans Memorial
$100,000 for City of Avon Fire Training Tower Facility
