Schmidt's Keep Nine Resolution Voted Out of Committee
COLUMBUS – State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) today announced that the House Civil Justice Committee this week favorably reported out House Concurrent Resolution 18, which would ask Congress to adopt the “Keep Nine” amendment to the United States Constitution.
“I am glad to see the House Civil Justice Committee report this bill out of committee,” said Schmidt. “It’s important to maintain an independent Supreme Court that isn’t threatened by court packing for political gain.”
The “Keep Nine” amendment states, “The Supreme Court of the United States shall be composed of nine Justices.” The amendment now has nationwide support that includes over 160 members of Congress and state legislative chambers including Governors, Lt. Governors, and Attorneys General.
