COLUMBUS—State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) highlights that $549,522 will be awarded to the Miami Township Police Department. The funding will come from the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.

“We must do what we can to maintain public safety in our communities,” Schmidt said. “This funding will update policing methods to do just that.”

Schmidt supports this funding in its efforts to aid the Miami Township Police Department in purchasing new technology to help prevent and investigate various violent crimes and implementing new retention methods.

“I was proud to support this grant program through legislation at the statehouse, and am very pleased to know the impact it will have on so many members of the community,” Schmidt added.

Schmidt supported HB 110, the state operating budget, which is funding this program. In total, the program will award nearly $100 million to local law enforcement agencies.

So far, this program has awarded roughly $70 million in funding to 146 law enforcement agencies throughout the state through six rounds. The $11.7 million in awards from the most recent round of funding will go to 24 separate agencies.
