COLUMBUS – State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) this week announced the Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program is now accepting applications. The program provides a rebate to Ohio Homeowners for the purchase and installation of tornado safe rooms.

The Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program was developed by the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. The program is a "rebate" program, meaning only after the installation, construction and payment of a safe room will selected and qualified applicants be reimbursed for eligible costs.

“The safety and protection of Ohio families is my top priority as a legislator,” said Schmidt. “I encourage everyone who is able to consider installing a safe room in your home.”

Homeowners that are selected for the program are eligible for a rebate of 75% of the cost to purchase, install and/or construct a safe room up to a maximum of $4,875. Homeowners that have been selected must also be able to attend a mandatory "Safe Room Briefing" meeting to be eligible for the rebate.

The Safe Room Rebate Program is open now until February 4, 2022. For more information on safe rooms, please click here. To apply to the program, please click here.
