October 29, 2021
Jean Schmidt News

COLUMBUS – State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) announced that the House Families, Aging and Human Services Committee yesterday favorably reported out House Bill 371, which advocates for increased breast cancer screening and coverage by broadening accessibility and emphasizing early detection.

“I am so thankful for all of the hard work put into this legislation by not only the committee, but also by the brave women and men that have supported and testified on this bill, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness month," said Schmidt. "The amount of support that was shown was unbelievable. Women from all across Ohio, including doctors and survivors, shared their stories and how important this bill is for them and other women.”

The bi-partisan bill, sponsored by State Reps. Schmidt and Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati), had nearly 40 proponent testimonies submitted to the committee. Schmidt noted that moving this bill during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, is extremely important and she encourages women everywhere to get their mammogram.

H.B. 371 now heads to the House floor for a vote. For more details on the legislation, please click here.
