State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari Appointed as Chair of House Homeland Security Committee

Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) appointed State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) as Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee for the 135th General Assembly.

“Representative Ghanbari is a forward thinking leader with an undisputable record of support for the safety and security of our fellow Ohioans,” said Stephens. “His appointment as chairman is a reflection of my confidence in his leadership, and the keen insight he will bring, to lead a vitally important committee focused on the many facets of homeland security here in the Buckeye State.”

Ghanbari has dedicated his life to serving others and has more than two decades of military service, including multiple deployments. Promoted to Lieutenant Commander on Sept. 1, 2018, he currently continues his service in the United States Navy Reserve.

“I’m truly honored to serve as chair of this new committee in the Ohio House,” said Ghanbari. “Thank you to Speaker Stephens for his trust and confidence in me as we work to advance public safety for the residents of our great state.”

During the previous General Assembly, Ghanbari served as Chair of the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee and as a member of the Finance, Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, and Transportation and Public Safety Committees.
