Peloton chooses Wood County to plant roots for new U.S. factory
TROY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Great news for Wood County and Northwest Ohio. Peloton is investing over $400 million dollars into building a new facility to manufacture products here in the United States, making it the first of its kind.
States like North Carolina, Georgia, Ohio and more went through a competitive process in order to land the facility and ultimately, Peloton decided on Northwest Ohio.
"Here in Northwest Ohio it's the perfect crossroads of America. Not only do we have the interstates, access to our waterways, local airports, we also have rail and many other things that make Northwest Ohio advantageous," said Haraz N Ghanbari, State Rep., Wood County (R-Perrysburg).
Another reason State Rep Haraz Ghanbari thinks Northwest Ohio is a good choice is because of the types of people this facility would be helping out.
"The other thing I would say more importantly, is the human capital that will be working at Peloton. These people are hard working men and women from NW Ohio that aren't worried to roll their sleeves up and get to work and produce," Ghanbari said.
This facility will create over two thousand jobs and create millions of dollars in revenue for NW Ohio, and that's something to be thankful for.
"These are manufacturing and really collective technology jobs, these are good jobs. And this kind of investment isn't happening everywhere, but it's happening right here," said State Senator Theresa Gavarone, (R) Ohio's 2nd Senate District.
Ohio has grown a lot over the past decade in terms of manufacturing, with Amazon putting a facility here and now Peloton, the state continues to be on top.
"We've lost a lot of competitions to the states we were competing against, now we're starting to win those competitions. Ohio is the go-to state in the Midwest for high tech and manufacturing and this announcement proves that once again," said Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, (R) Ohio.
Lt. Gov. Husted said Peloton wants to be manufacturing equipment by 2023 so once they break ground they'll have about a year to build it.
