Elgin Rogers, Jr. News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) today announced that three Toledo area projects were recipients of the Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program as part of the 31st round of credits awarded by the Ohio Department of Development. The credits, totaling over $12 million, will go toward Burt’s Theater, Hoppe & Strub Bottling Company, and the Nicholas Building.

“This is an important investment in Northwest Ohio. These dollars will allow for continued development of Toledo while preserving the historical appearance and significance of the area,” said Rep. Rogers.

Burt’s Theater will be converted to residential use with 15 apartments on the upper floors and a restaurant tenant on the ground floor; the Hoppe & Strub Bottling Company credit will reactivate the second and third floors of the building as an event center for weddings, parties, and other events and will include a commercial kitchen, bridal suites, ballrooms, and bar area; and the Nicholas Building will be a part of a larger redevelopment project that will reactivate residential and commercial spaces in several buildings. The upper floors of the Nicholas Building will hold 193 residential units.
