COLUMBUS– State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) is honored to be among 40 select lawmakers chosen to participate in a training program that annually identifies and assists promising state leaders in the Midwest. Rep. Jarrells will meet with fellow lawmakers from Ohio, 10 other Midwestern states and four Canadian provinces on August 27-31 in Madison, Wis., for The Council of State Governments’ 27th annual Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD).

"I am honored to be selected to attend Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development. This is an incredible opportunity that will provide me with guidance on how to navigate the countless public policy issues which affect our state every day.” said Rep. Jarrells.

BILLD was founded in 1995 to help new legislators meet the demands of increased policy responsibility, term limits and high legislative turnover.  The goal of this national, nonpartisan organization is to assist and advance state government by providing research assistance, professional development opportunities, interstate consulting services, and suggested state legislation. Since its start more than 900 lawmakers have graduated from the Bowhay Institute, making it one of the premier leadership training programs in the nation.
