COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) this week hosted an All of Us Legislative Town Hall and Resource Fair at Union Grove Baptist Church. Constituents and local advocates engaged in conversations discussing the legislative process and issues impacting the community. Additionally, community members had the opportunity to connect with local organizations providing biometric screenings as health and wellness resources, as well as Black-owned businesses to honor Black History Month.

“When we say All of Us, we mean it. Government should not feel distant or complicated. It should feel accessible, accountable, and rooted in the everyday lives of the people it serves. Bringing neighbors together inside Union Grove to talk about how laws are made, how dollars are spent, and how decisions impact our families is how we close the gap between policy and people we serve,” said Rep. Jarrells.

Rep. Jarrells was joined by State Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D-Columbus) and Columbus City Councilmember Tiara N. Ross to educate constituents on how a bill becomes law, the capital budget, and key city and state initiatives. The elected officials also answered questions concerning community engagement, city needs and expressed the importance of understanding the legislative process and holding officials accountable by staying connected with them.

Rep. Jarrells continues to maintain a heavy presence in the community and looks forward to seeing constituents at future events this year.
