COLUMBUS – State Rep. Desiree Tims (D-Dayton) today announced that she will introduce legislation that allocates $1M from the state to supplement income for eligible TSA households amid the partial government shutdown.

"Every single day, TSA agents do work to protect us - screening passengers, securing our airports, and keeping our skies safe,” said Rep. Tims. “They do not get to call in sick when Congress fails to do its job, and they should not have to worry about paying their rent or feeding their families because of a political standoff in Washington. This bill provides targeted, urgent support for Ohio-based TSA families who continue to keep Ohio skies safe without pay."

While TSA shows up for Americans every single day, voluntarily, the government constantly fails to show up in return. Larger-scale legislation to ensure TSA workers are paid is crucially needed and long overdue, but instead, President Trump is engaging in a political standoff to America’s detriment.

“This will provide support for those workers who are driving LYFT, Uber, or engaging in side hustles to make ends meet for their families. In the absence of federal action, we have a duty to protect Ohio skies and ensure passenger safety,” concluded Rep. Tims.
