Rep. Tims Honors Legacy of Bishop Richard E. Cox

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Desiree Tims (D-Dayton) today released the following statement regarding the passing of Dayton’s Bishop Richard E. Cox: 

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bishop Richard E. Cox, a devoted servant-leader whose impact on the Dayton community will be felt for generations to come. Through his ministry, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to uplifting others, Bishop Cox embodied the very best of faith in action. 

We all know and remember Bishop Cox as a tireless advocate for equity and access. His hallmark issue was fighting for healthcare. His advocacy for the replacement of Good Samaritan hospital is a reminder that we must fight to stand in the gap for our community. 

My prayers for comfort are with his family and all who were touched by his life and leadership. We are all better because of Bishop Cox’s legacy and remain committed to carrying forward the purposeful work.”
