Rep. Tims Announces Passage of State Capital Budget, Securing Vital Community Investments in Montgomery County

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Desiree Tims (D-Dayton) today announced the passage of Senate Bill 450, the state's biennial capital appropriations budget. The bill allocates nearly $4B for the maintenance, renovation, and construction of state-owned infrastructure, including colleges, universities, school districts, and other community projects.

The capital budget is the mechanism by which the state funds its brick-and-mortar needs. This ranges from the construction and renovation of K-12 public schools and higher education facilities to public works programs and mental health treatment centers, as well as funding local community projects. It includes funding for projects that expand access to healthcare, strengthen local economies, preserve cultural institutions, improve public infrastructure, and enhance quality of life for residents across the region.

Rep. Tims helped secure $7,715,215 for Montgomery County.

“I am proud to have secured $7,715,215 for projects throughout Montgomery County,” said Rep. Tims. “These investments reflect the priorities of our communities, from strengthening educational and workforce development opportunities to enhancing parks, cultural institutions, and community spaces that bring people together.”

 Approximately $7,715,215 will be distributed to the following projects within HD 38:

  • Centerville Grant Park Improvements – $150,000
  • Uptown Centerville Greenspace Project – $350,000
  • Dayton Kitchen Incubator Project – $250,000
  • Dayton Medal of Honor Memorial (Honor Park) – $350,000
  • Dayton Woman’s Club Improvements – $100,000
  • Miami Valley Meals – $100,000
  • Old North Dayton Park Project – $150,000
  • Sinclair Aviation Maintenance Technology Project – $75,000
  • Boonshoft Museum of Discovery – $200,000
  • Ohio National Road Journey - Exhibit & Building – $500,000
  • St. Vincent de Paul Community Donation Intake Facility – $225,000
  • UD  Semiconductor Lab HVAC System – $250,000
  • Germantown Historical Society Restoration – $100,000
  • Germantown Kercher Park Tennis/Pickleball Expansion – $400,000
  • Germantown Kercher & Weber Park Improvements – $200,000
  • Huber Heights Indoor Music Venue – $900,000
  • Farmersville/Jackson Township Joint Park Recreation – $100,000
  • Learning Tree Farm Upgrades – $75,000
  • Kettering Dwight L. Barnes Building Revitalization – $550,000
  • Miami View Park Accessibility Upgrades – $100,000
  • Miami View Park Improvements – $100,000
  • Mound Science and Energy Museum – $200,000
  • Jefferson Township Blairwood Park Upgrades – $75,000
  • Wax Park Facility Improvements – $100,000
  • Oakwood and Shafor Park Improvements – $450,000
  • Phillipsburg Community Park & Pickleball Court – $188,000
  • Riverside STEM Talent Development Complex – $100,000
  • Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center – $125,000
  • Washington Township Countryside Park Improvements – $400,000
  • Crash Course Village Public Safety Training Facility – $300,000
  • West Carrollton Dam Safety Improvements – $502,215
  • West Carrollton First Responder Training Center – $150,000

SB 450 now heads to the governor's desk for his signature.
