COLUMBUS– The House Democratic Cincinnati Delegation today commend the recent Hamilton County ruling that the state of Ohio cannot block the City of Cincinnati from regulating guns, finding that an Ohio law violates the city’s “home rule” authority.

“Last week's ruling by the Hamilton County judge will simply save lives. It reaffirms Cincinnati’s freedom to enact laws, in this case commonsense gun reform measures we know a bipartisan majority of Ohioans support,” said the House Democratic Cincinnati Delegation. “The safe storage of guns and keeping guns out of the hands of those convicted of domestic violence will keep children and women safe and not impact responsible gun owners. It’s the kind of reforms Ohioans expect us to pass and bills we have introduced at the Statehouse, but which Republicans refuse to take up through the legislative process . It’s time for this General Assembly to lead on this issue or get out of the way and let the people decide.”

The House Democratic Cincinnati Delegation is represented by Reps. Jessica Miranda (D-Forest Park), Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati), Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) and Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati).

House Democrats remain steadfast in taking action to enact commonsense gun safety measures that will reduce gun violence, protect children, and make our communities safer.
