State Rep D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) announces Erie and Ottawa Counties have been awarded land reutilization grants through state funding from the state operating budget passed by the General Assembly last year.

“As a member of the House Finance Committee, I’m pleased I was closely involved in our state budget to secure significant funding for many projects, including these land reutilization grants to bolster our communities,” Swearingen said. “The goal is to revitalize neighborhoods to make the quality of life thrive for families across Erie and Ottawa Counties.”

Both the Erie County Land Reutilization Corporation and Ottawa County Land Reutilization Corporation will receive $699,930 and $500,000, respectively.

The announcement includes a total of $14.5 million for the land reutilization funding for 30 counties throughout the state.

In 2021 the Ohio General Assembly allocated $150 million to help counties revitalize worn-down neighborhoods through the Demolition and Site Revitalization Program to improve property values and boost economic development. The program stems from House Bill 110, which Swearingen supported last year.
