COLUMBUS— State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) announced today that House Bill (HB) 2, a long-held Democratic priority that creates the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, was signed into law. The program is specifically designed to bring broadband access to unserved residential households in both rural and urban areas of the state. The bill funds $20 million in grants for this year. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. House Democrats have called for rent and utility relief since the onset of the pandemic, introducing bills that would have created a program for immediate rental assistance, postponed evictions and foreclosures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and prevented utility shutoffs during an emergency

Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) and Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today filed sweeping anti-corruption legislation, which would require dark money groups to identify their contributors and disclose their spending. First introduced nearly a year ago, the Ohio Anti-Corruption Act responds to the largest bribery scandal in Ohio history and recent news that experts rank Ohio as the top state for public corruption.

COLUMBUS –Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today issued the following statement on the House passage of House Bill 110, the state’s two-year budget. House Democrats largely opposed the bill, saying it was a missed opportunity to invest in everyday Ohioans still struggling amid the health and economic crisis.

House Democratic lawmakers today unveiled a package of commonsense gun safety measures they say will work to curb gun violence and save lives in Ohio. The call comes amid a spike in gun violence and Ohio’s new no duty to retreat bill taking effect earlier this month.

Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) announced that the state Controlling Board approved several items this week, including the establishment of the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, which will allow Ohio to accept an estimated $5.5 billion under the recently passed American Rescue Plan (ARP) to support Ohioans during the COVID-19 pandemic and aid the state’s economic recovery once appropriated.

Democratic lawmakers also expressed concern over the months-long delay in the release of the funding, which they say slowed the state’s recovery.

State Reps. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) and Monique Smith (D-Fairview Park) today announced the introduction of House Bill (HB) 257, or the “Extreme Risk Protection Orders Act.”  Introduced as HB 316 in the 133rd General Assembly, the bill would allow family members, household members or law enforcement officers to petition the court for an order temporarily preventing individuals considered to be an imminent danger to themselves or others from possessing firearms.

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Joe Miller (D-Amherst) and Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced the introduction of House Bill (HB) 251 – legislation to establish an indoor mold education and awareness program through the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). 

COLUMBUS- State Reps. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), Susan Manchester (R-Waynesfield) and Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today announced the introduction of House Bill (HB) 198, or “Madeline’s Law” during a virtual press conference.  Introduced as House Bill 243 in the 133rd General Assembly, “Madeline’s Law” is a bipartisan bill that would expand health insurance coverage to include hearing aids for children up to the age of 21.
