Rep. Russo statement as House passes bill to expand broadband access to underserved Ohioans
State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today applauded the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 2, a long-held Democratic priority that would create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, specifically designed to bring broadband access to unserved residential households in both rural and urban areas of the state.
“Broadband access plays a huge role in both pandemic mitigation and the economic recovery process,” said Rep. Russo. “The State of Ohio must do all in its power to mitigate the challenges, opportunity gaps, and inequities Ohioans are currently facing. Bringing broadband access to underserved residents in both rural and urban areas of the state is an important first step towards ensuring an Ohio where its citizens can build better lives, thrive, and achieve brighter futures.”
HB 2 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
