State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced the installation of cameras in five additional House hearing rooms, signaling the completion of a major project to offer live coverage of all House committee meetings for the first time, fulfilling a long-time Democratic priority for a more open and transparent committee process.

“The Statehouse is the People’s House, and the legislative process should be transparent to all Ohioans,” said Rep. Russo. “I am proud the House Democrats worked across the aisle to ensure this historic reform was fully implemented so that taxpayers are now better able to engage with and access their state government and elected officials.”

For years, Democratic lawmakers pushed for increased video access throughout the Ohio Statehouse in an effort to increase government transparency, and until this year, had not seen any movement in the Republican-controlled chamber.
