COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today released the following statement related to the lawsuit filed Friday by two voters against Secretary of State Frank LaRose for his new directive that makes it harder for voters with disabilities to cast in-person absentee ballots in Ohio:

Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today argued before the Ohio Controlling Board that Secretary of State Frank LaRose must publicly guarantee any state funds the secretary has requested for the constitutionally required publication of materials including summaries and arguments for and against Issue 1 be free of political tampering and influence

COLUMBUS — Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna) today announced the Controlling Board’s approval of over $4.66M to support the operations of the State Board of Education. 

COLUMBUS — In a letter sent Wednesday to Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Chair Jenifer French, State Rep. Bride Sweeney (D-Westlake) and other House Democrats called on the PUCO to take immediate action to address the reliability of Ohio's power grid in light of recent severe weather events that have caused widespread outages. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today joined the Cuyahoga County House and Senate Delegation to urgently request Governor DeWine issue a proclamation declaring a state of emergency across Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Lorain Counties which were impacted by a severe weather system on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. 

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced that the Controlling Board has approved $1.2M under the Department of Children & Youth to further combat infant mortality. The funds will be used in partnership with the non-profit organization Cribs for Kids to provide new parents with educational resources on the importance of and how to practice safe sleep with their infant. Cribs for Kids will also provide safe sleep products to parents to allow them to put their baby to sleep safely and assist with practice safe sleep.

This bill provides crucial investments of over $34 million into Ohio’s children and families, ensuring improved health outcomes during childhood.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced that the Controlling Board has approved funding for a new, evidence-based home visit pilot program designed to provide in-home support to new moms and families in the postpartum period. The initiative is part of a suite of new programs aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality rates and improving early childhood outcomes across Ohio.
