COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Majority Floor Leader Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) yesterday provided sponsor testimony on House Bill (HB) 79 to the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee. The bipartisan legislation aims to save Ohioans money on their electric bills and reduce energy consumption at peak demand by incentivizing Ohio utility companies to create voluntary energy saving programs.

Rep. Sweeney Announces $6.7M in State Disaster Relief to Cuyahoga County for Damages Related to August Tornados

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced the Ohio Controlling Board approved $6.7M in state funds for Cuyahoga County through the State Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to assist local governments in covering the cost of damages resulting from the tornadoes and severe storms on August 6, 2024.

Rep Sweeney Announces $4.95M for Affordable Housing Opportunities in Cuyahoga County

Rep. Sweeney Announces $11.2M for Remediation of Abandoned Oil & Gas Wells

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced the Controlling Board approved $11.2M in state funds to remediate previously abandoned oil and gas wells, also known as “orphan wells,” throughout the state. Properly plugging orphan wells is vital to protecting public health and safety and better conserve Ohio’s natural resources.

Rep. Sweeney Announces $3.7M in Brownfield Remediation Awards for Cuyahoga County

 

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced Cuyahoga County has been awarded an additional $3.7M in funding through the Brownfield Remediation Program, for a total of $48.2M in 2024. Brownfield funding helps clean up and redevelop hazardous sites, creating new economic and employment opportunities.

Rep. Sweeney Announces $4.2M for Greater Cleveland RTA

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) last week announced that $4.2M in state funding has been awarded to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Urban Transit Program. The funds are appropriated from the FY 2024-2025 Transportation Budget, which Rep. Sweeney helped pass as Ranking Member of the House Finance Committee.

Rep. Sweeney Announces $1M for Gun Violence Prevention in Cuyahoga County

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced nearly $1M in federal funding has been awarded for initiatives in Cuyahoga County aimed at combating gun violence. The federal funding has been made available through the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Byrne State Crisis Intervention Plan (SCIP) with appropriations from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022.
