Rep. Sweeney Demands Answers from LaRose About Recent Purge of Registered Ohio Voters Ahead of November Election

Bride Rose Sweeney News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today sent a letter to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, asking him to clarify his recent decision to purge more registered Ohio voters from the rolls with voting already underway for the November election.

“Secretary of State LaRose should not be recklessly purging more Ohio voters in the middle of an extremely consequential election, which will determine the basic rights of over half the state’s population,” said Rep. Sweeney. “This is not the time for more partisan games. I am once again calling on Secretary LaRose to do his job and provide the transparency necessary to shore up the people’s trust in democracy.”

According to a recent report from Innovation Ohio, voter turnout has gone down over 3% since LaRose took office in 2018 – and is down as much as 6-8% in our largest counties where Black voters disproportionately live.
