State Board Releases Funding to Treat Acid Mine Drainage in Hocking County

October 4, 2022
Brian Stewart News

COLUMBUS— Yesterday the Ohio State Controlling Board approved funding for the Snow Fork of Monday Creek watershed in Hocking County to treat Acid Mine Drainage (AMD).

“I was happy to advocate for these funds through legislation so we can work toward a safer, healthier environment,” Stewart said.

The funding was allocated through House Bill 110, which Stewart cosponsored and supported last year. The bill was later signed into law.

These funds will be processed through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Mineral Resources Management.

The division is set to receive $120,000 to purchase two separate Lime Dosers for the Snow Fork, which stretches between Hocking and Athens Counties.

The Ohio State Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 24.
