State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) is pleased to share that resources are now available through Keith’s Law to help individuals, families, caregivers, and local agencies understand and utilize the new statewide database.

Keith’s Law established a voluntary statewide database for individuals with special needs to share relevant and vital information with first responders in advance of a crisis. This information will be shared with each county 9-1-1 system, which will be required to provide appropriate information to first responders when dispatched to provide services, ensuring responders are better prepared to deliver potentially life-saving assistance to individuals in need.

“Keith’s Law provides our first responders with the tools they need to better protect and serve Ohioans with disabilities,” said Lorenz. “This common-sense, voluntary statewide database ensures that when every second counts, our public safety professionals can respond with greater awareness, compassion, and effectiveness. This is about supporting independence, enhancing safety, and respecting the dignity of all Ohio families.”

The database will be administered by Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities in partnership with the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

These resources are designed to support enrollment, educate the public on how information will be used during emergencies, and assist first responders in accessing and applying the information effectively in the field.
