COLUMBUS – State Representative Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) is pleased to announce that numerous local school districts in Fayette, Highland, Pike and Ross Counties were recently awarded funding from the Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program—totaling more than $260,000.

As part of the state operating budget, the Legislature provided $10 million toward helping school districts offset the costs of upgrading their bus fleets with advanced safety equipment. Flexible guidelines allowed each school district to best utilize the funds to promote safety in their fleet.

“The safety of our students is always a top priority, and this funding helps ensure school districts have the resources they need to protect children on their daily routes,” said Peterson.

The list of awardees in the 91st House District is the following:

  • Adena Local School District - $65,105
  • Bright Local School District - $5,000
  • Eastern Local School District - $26,198
  • Fairfield Local School District - $7,062
  • Greenfield Exempted School District - $17,862
  • Hillsboro City School District - $26,386
  • Lynchburg-Clay Local School District - $14,488
  • Miami Trace Local School District - $20,629
  • Southeastern Local School District - $23,614
  • Waverly City School District - $53,823

Every school district that applied for assistance with eligible equipment received an award. Schools may use the funds to incorporate safety enhancements in new buses or add safety technology to buses currently in service.
