COLUMBUS, OH — State Representative Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) today announced the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County has been awarded $12,204 through the State Library of Ohio’s Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Competitive Grants program.

During its December meeting, the State Library of Ohio Board approved more than $265,000 in federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to support twelve libraries and archives across Ohio. These competitive grants provide up to $50,000 to libraries addressing key focus areas including library as a community anchor, literacy, and outreach and engagement. Funding is made possible through IMLS’s federal Grants to States program.

“This investment is great news for Pike County and our surrounding communities,” said Rep. Peterson. “Our local libraries do far more than lend books—they serve as vital hubs for education, outreach, and opportunity. I’m proud to see District 91 recognized with this funding.”

The Garnet A. Wilson Public Library received its grant under the Outreach and Engagement category. The funding will be used to purchase a cargo lift for the library’s outreach vehicle and a portable science cart to support a mobile STEM/STEAM education station.
