Roemer's Legislation Helping with Recovery and Reopening Issues from COVID-19 Passes Ohio House
State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announced House Bill 673 unanimously passed out of the Ohio House. The legislation seeks to push for ramping up the healthcare workforce and access, education, and removes unnecessary burdens on employers and workers. Roemer spoke to the bill on the House floor.
“This legislation seeks to accomplish a number of items to help Ohio recover and reopen from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Roemer. “It is so important that we move to support many of the most impacted individuals across our state such as teachers, nurses, cosmetologists, barbers and pharmacists and am so proud to have taken the first steps down that path through this bill.”
Among the provisions of HB 673 include expansion of current law allowing pharmacists to administer Covid-19 tests and vaccinations, as well as the authorization of pharmacy interns and certified technicians to do the same. It will also for individuals licensed by the State Cosmetology and Barber Board to provide services outside of their licensed barber shop or salon at limited events. Finally, it will extend the availability of temporary licensure for nurses across the State of Ohio to July 1st, 2020, adding important bodies to the front lines of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
House Bill 673 now awaits further action in the Senate.
