State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announces that the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program is now accepting applications. The initiative was made possible through legislation Roemer cosponsored and supported to strengthen school security. The funding stems from House Bill 687, which allocates $100 million for this grant program.

“This critical funding is going towards protecting our children and staff,” Roemer said. “With all the technological advantages we have, it’s so important we take that and utilize it for the safety of our students across our local schools and the state.”

Earlier this month, Roemer announced $667,776 in funding was being awarded to schools within the 38th Ohio House District.

The grant program is to assist districts with physical security enhancements, such as security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems, and exterior lighting.
