Angela N. King News

COLUMBUS – State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.

Vetoed by the Governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.

King released the following statement about the vote:

“We need to protect children from making life-altering decisions at such a young age,” said King. “The Governor may not have wanted to pass this legislation, but the majority of Ohioans want it. Today  I, along with my colleagues in the House, kept our promise to override the Governor’s veto. Ohio will be a place where children are protected from harmful surgeries and women can play sports with other biological women.”
