Representative Holmes Releases Statement on Recent Private Investment in Electric Grid Innovation
State Representative Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) today issued the following statement regarding a new partnership between Google and CTC Global to increase and improve U.S. electrical grid capacity:
“Ohio is leading the nation in developing artificial intelligence and reshoring our manufacturing base, yet the backbone of this economic growth — our electric grid — is running on technology designed a century ago. We risk losing our economic edge to China and other global competitors if our industrial growth is limited by electricity transmission challenges.
“Our office is extremely encouraged to see the American private sector stepping up with the urgency and ingenuity this challenge demands. On Tuesday, Google announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with U.S. manufacturer CTC Global to accelerate the deployment of advanced power lines, and we are very proud that Ohio is a prime candidate for these initial investments.
“Through collaborative approaches like this we unlock our ability to harness the world’s most advanced conductors that can double the capacity of our existing grid. Strategic deployment of these technologies can accelerate regional economic growth and development, add capacity, improve grid reliability and performance, and lower energy costs for all.
“The Google-CTC Global approach is the Ohio energy model at its best: private sector innovation leading the way instead of government. Efficient electricity transmission is a commitment to national supply chains, Ohio’s skilled workers and our proud manufacturing legacy. Investment in advanced electricity transmission now will ensure that the next century is powered by American leadership.”
