COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representatives Wednesday passed legislation to designate Women’s History Month in Ohio, announced State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell).

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced the Controlling Board’s approval of funding for local county boards of election to purchase electronic poll books, fully realizing the original legislative intent of House Bill (HB) 673, Rep. Sweeney’s bipartisan legislation to aid local boards of election in the acquisition of new, updated electronic poll books.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana) was recently appointed by Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) to serve on the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC). 

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Andrea White (R-Kettering) today announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 338, legislation that would allow child support orders to be issued or modified for a child with disabilities after that child has turned 18.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Bride Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Thomas Hall (R- Madison Twp.) today have jointly introduced legislation for the re-establishment of the Clean Ohio Council and permanent, long-term, sustainable funding for Brownfield Remediation beginning in 2025 and beyond.

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison) and Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.) today provided sponsor testimony before the House Public Insurance and Pensions Committee on legislation to modernize the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund (OP&F).

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Sara Carruthers (R-Hamilton) today introduced legislation to prevent the cruel and unnecessary use of animal testing in the cosmetics industry. House Bill (HB) 495 would ban the sale of cosmetic products in Ohio that have been newly tested on animals.

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives passed the Human Trafficking Prevention Act Wednesday, introduced by State Representatives Josh Williams (R- Sylvania Twp.) and Nick Santucci (R-Niles), legislation to increase criminal penalties for human trafficking, kidnapping and abduction. 

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Jamie Callender (R-Concord) today provided sponsor testimony on House Bill (HB) 400 to the House Insurance Committee. HB 400 aims to extend Medigap coverage to patients in Ohio diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). While ESRD and ALS patients are federally eligible to receive Medicare Coverage, Ohio does not allow them to purchase Medigap coverage.

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Heidi Workman (R-Rootstown) and Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) delivered sponsor testimony today on House Bill 302, legislation that establishes a new standard for protecting children online by strengthening age assurance requirements and empowering families with safer digital tools.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced the investment of $831K to revitalize and expand adult day services for seniors living in Cuyahoga County. The grant program, administered by the Ohio Department of Aging, will utilize federal ARPA dollars to expand the availability of community-based senior care services throughout Ohio, supporting facility construction and renovation, expansion of services, and workforce recruitment and retention efforts.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) this week was appointed by Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) to serve as Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) on Friday was awarded the Council of Smaller Enterprises Small Business Advocate of the Year Award for her legislative work to support and grow small business enterprises in Ohio. The Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) is Greater Cleveland’s premier small business membership organization, advocating for small businesses in the region since 1972.

COLUMBUS –State Representatives Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) and Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) recently introduced legislation to remedy frivolous public records requests. 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) was glad to participate in a press conference in honor of the Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety’s (SPS) recent announcement that it has spared more than 30,109 children from serious harm since its inception.

Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today was presented with the Ohio Federation of Teachers’ (OFT) 2024 Friend of OFT Award for her legislative work to support public school teachers and increase state funding for public schools as the lead Democratic sponsor of the bipartisan Fair School Funding Plan.
