COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) has announced the release of an amended Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Military Affairs Task Force Report. The original report was released publicly shortly after a press conference hosted by the BRAC and Military Affairs Task Force on April 29th of this year.

It was a pleasure to be able to participate in Vanguard-Sentinel’s 50th anniversary on August 16th. I congratulate the staff, teachers, administration and key community members and students that make this education model successful. Career technical education is essential today. Education has to be a collaborative process. VSCTC has partnerships with 15 local high schools and has good relationships with Terra State Community College, Tiffin University and Heidelberg University.

COLUMBUS - Legislation sponsored by State Representatives Dave Greenspan (R-Westlake) and John Barnes (D-Cleveland), which helps decrease the high number of Ohioans with suspended driver’s licenses, was signed recently by Governor Kasich. House Bill 336 creates a short-term program intended to help indigent Ohioans who are unable to afford the reinstatement fee or fines that they have accrued throughout their license suspension. According to bill sponsors, many of these individuals continue to drive, risking further financial repercussion for either themselves or other drivers on the road.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Carfagna (R-Genoa Township) participated in a press conference today announcing free access to LinkedIn’s online professional skills learning platform, Lynda.com (Lynda), though Ohio’s public libraries for all citizens in the state of Ohio with a library card.


COLUMBUS—State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) applauded the Ohio House for unanimously passing House Bill 502. Rep. Anielski sponsored that legislation that would further improves suicide prevention efforts in schools by requiring public school employees to undergo training in youth suicide awareness and prevention programs once every two years. The two hour curriculums are FREE via online training, DVD’s, or in person. Under the legislation, school personnel also earn Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).

COLUMBUS—State Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima) had a rare double-hitter this past week when two bills he sponsored passed the Ohio House on the same day. H.B. 7 clarifies areas of medical malpractice litigation, and H.B. 595 updates provisions of Ohio’s probate and trust law.
