COLUMBUS – State Representatives Phil Plummer and D.J. Swearingen today proposed legislation to improve our current firearms background check process and close gaps in state law to help local law enforcement and prosecutors better protect Ohioans.

Swearingen, Jr. (R-Huron) was sworn in to serve as state representative to the 89^th House District, which covers both Erie and Ottawa counties. Representative Swearingen replaces Representative Steven Arndt (R-Port Clinton) who retired on July 31, 2019.
